Busy!! One of the few bars that was still up and busy at midnight on a weekday.

Very good food at great value Bright, clean, authentic --- good service & they deliver the standards well.

my friend and I spent a week in madrid and ate here three times. it is full of native and has a wonderful atmosphere. eating is great and the beautiful waitress was so thoughtful to guide us through the menu. I think we have it. directly on the last day have absolutely no memory in the recommendation and the albariño wein is divine.

we liked the view of this place from outside with its tiled light outer. in the inner it is beautifully decorated old style' with many flowing and photos of bullen fighters with a big bullen head on the wall. we ordered cana small beer and gave a free tapas of paella. it was good and the beer was nicely cold. there are limited seats around the bar and then tables for people who want to order meals. we were only after a drink, so none of the foods tried to comment. but for the inner and the beautiful paella, if I were back in the opposite, I would certainly try to eat that.

this place was a little jewel. we ate the best spade we've ever had, and we both ordered cod dishes that were excellent. we loved the tiles and the classic madrid ambiente, and the people were wonderful. I admit that we have difficulty finding a good restaurant in madrid. there are so many options and we had good food, but nothing special until that. unfortunately we found la chata last night in madrid, or we would have been back.

visited la chata with my family. this is really an authentic family business tapas taverna. the menu and the art and wise how the things are done have not changed for a while. that would have been okay if that was great and the venue was pleasant. but unfortunately it wasn't. it was best moderate (with a clear exception for the deep fried encod that was fantastic). it is still a charming old fashion taverna (in urgent need of a touch), but with all the serious competition in the same street this place needs to be playing fast on.

This is one of the best tapas places I experienced in Madrid. It's in the Cava Baja street where many other restaurants and bars are located. You can bar-hop all night, but be sure to make a stop in La Chata. You can stand in...the bar and ask for a cañita (small glass of beer) and you'll also get a complimentary small plate of tapas, one plate for each caña you order! Best deal ever. Don't expect anything fancy, very simple and traditional, this is exactly the charm of the place! I was there in May and they had the calendar for all San Isidro festival bullfights, so cool!
